Kampala, Uganda – Former Minister Amelia Kyambadde has officially launched her campaign to reclaim the Mawokota North constituency seat in the upcoming 2026 elections. This announcement comes as she seeks to unseat the current MP, Hillary Kiyaga, popularly known as Dr. Hilderman, who defeated her in the 2021 elections.

Kyambadde, who has a long-standing relationship with Hilderman, congratulated him on his victory during the last election cycle. However, with political dynamics shifting, she is determined to make a comeback. In her statement, she expressed confidence in her ability to connect with constituents and address their needs effectively.
Dr. Hilderman is currently facing challenges within his political party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), where he is perceived as a rebel aligning with Mathias Mpuuga, a known adversary of NUP. This political backdrop sets the stage for a highly competitive election as Kyambadde aims to leverage her experience and past connections to regain her position.
