Amooti Omubalanguzi Explains Why He Didn’t Contest for Nansana MP Seat.

Kampala, Uganda – Veteran comedian Amooti Omubalanguzi has shared insights into his decision not to run for the Nansana Municipality parliamentary seat in the last general election. Speaking in light of fellow entertainer Big Eye’s recent announcement to vie for the same position in the upcoming 2026-2031 elections, Amooti revealed that he found the party ticket had already been allocated to another candidate by the National Unity Platform (NUP) when he expressed interest.

Big Eye’s recent announcement

Amooti considered using a ‘mushroom’ as his campaign symbol but ultimately decided against it, believing it would not resonate with voters. He encouraged Big Eye to focus on understanding the challenges facing the people of Nansana and to develop a clear manifesto that addresses these issues.
