Kampala, Uganda – Fast-rising Ugandan singer Ava Peace, born Namugonza Maureen, has addressed ongoing comparisons between herself and established music star Sheebah Karungi, saying she considers it an honor rather than an insult.

Ava Peace has been one of the most trending female artists in Uganda in recent years, with some critics claiming that her rise to prominence is largely due to Sheebah’s temporary musical break. However, instead of feeling offended by the comparisons, Ava Peace views them as a sign of success.
Speaking in a recent interview, Ava Peace expressed her deep admiration for Sheebah, emphasizing that she has always looked up to the self-styled Karma Queen.
"I have always told people how good Sheebah is. I have always loved her since those days. She is super talented, and as a person, she is very good. Everything about her is good."
She acknowledged that people naturally compare artists, which she believes is a sign that she is excelling in her career.
"People love comparing artists, but that already shows that you are good at what you do. Just that people bring up that propaganda to mean something else, but then, you are already standing as an artist."
Ava Peace has never shied away from speaking about the artists who inspire her. Aside from Sheebah, she has also publicly praised Winnie Nwagi and Vinka, two of Uganda’s most influential female artists.

In 2023, she had a career-defining moment when she collaborated with Winnie Nwagi and Vinka on the hit song Batuleke. This, she said, was a dream come true as she had long admired both artists.
With her unique musical style and a growing fan base, Ava Peace has established herself as one of the most promising female artists in Uganda. She remains focused on building her brand and proving her worth, regardless of industry comparisons.
Sheebah Karungi, despite taking a brief music break, remains one of Uganda’s most decorated female artists, and Ava Peace’s association with her name further solidifies her standing in the industry.
As she continues to release new music and collaborate with top artists, Ava Peace remains grateful for the recognition and is determined to keep pushing her career forward.
