“Bang the Twins” Slur Exposes Deep Rift Between Ssemakadde and Twin Sisters

Uganda Law Society President Isaac Ssemakadde is facing a public reckoning after a damaging fallout with twin sisters Yvonne Babirye and Cynthia Nakato, once his close allies. The controversy erupted after online trolls twisted Ssemakadde’s campaign slogan “Bang the Table” into the lurid phrase “bang the twins,” fueling speculation and innuendo about the nature of his relationship with the sisters.

Cynthia Nakato

Cynthia Nakato, seeking to end the rumors, issued a categorical denial: “My work with Isaac Ssemakadde was purely professional. It is him and my sister who had an intimate relationship.” This public clarification, however, triggered a bitter exchange between the twins, with Babirye accusing Nakato of using the truth to appear “pure” while painting her as morally compromised. Babirye did not directly deny a relationship with Ssemakadde but questioned her sister’s motives and insisted her focus was always on work.

The sisters’ feud is the latest chapter in a saga that began with their explosive nine-page statement accusing Ssemakadde of emotional manipulation, coercion, and blurring professional boundaries. Both described degrading verbal attacks, requests for provocative photos, and attempts to control their public image. Ssemakadde has dismissed the allegations as a “personal matter,” refusing to address the specifics. The scandal has not only fractured their personal and professional relationships but also cast a shadow over the Uganda Law Society’s leadership
