Big Eye’s Political Ambitions: Losing NUP Ticket Will Hinder My Mission

Ugandan musician Ibrahim Mayanja, popularly known as Big Eye, has set his sights on a parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections, with aspirations to represent Nansana Municipality in Parliament. However, his journey to the ballot is not without challenges, as he must first secure the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket in a competitive internal race.

Big Eye will face stiff competition from established politicians, including incumbent Wakayima Musoke, seasoned media personality Zambali Bulasio Mukasa, and NUP mobilizer Serukuma John Bosco. The musician, who has transitioned into politics, believes that securing the NUP flag is crucial for his mission.

“If the NUP flag is assigned to another member, that’s fine, but it will hinder my mission. But I hope to come out on top,” he stated during an interview with a local television station.

Big Eye strongly believes that he is the most popular candidate among those vying for the NUP ticket. He claims that his connection with the people and active engagement in Nansana Municipality give him an edge over his competitors.

“Of all the people who have contested under the NUP party, I’m the one who has been well received,” he emphasized.

As the NUP Elections Management Committee prepares to vet and announce its flag bearer, all eyes remain on Big Eye and his political prospects.
