Bobi Wine Demands Accountability After BBC Exposé on Dubai Sex Trafficking

National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has publicly condemned the Ugandan government for failing to take any concrete actions after a BBC documentary exposed a trafficking network exploiting young Ugandan women in Dubai. The investigative report, “Death in Dubai,” uncovered how women were lured on false promises of legitimate employment but forced into sexual slavery and subjected to horrific abuse.

The documentary named Ugandan Charles “Abbey” Mwesigwa as a key orchestrator of the network. Bobi Wine expressed grave concern over the apparent impunity with which traffickers operate and called out the regime for not arresting any suspects despite the damning evidence. He linked the root cause of such exploitation to systemic problems in Uganda, including inadequate employment opportunities and poor wages, which push vulnerable youths abroad where many fall prey to traffickers.
