Bobi Wine Responds to Muhoozi’s Threats: “I Refuse to Be Intimidated”

Kampala, Uganda – Robert Kyagulanyi, widely known as Bobi Wine, has issued a defiant statement in response to threats made by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces and son of President Museveni. In a post on social media, Kyagulanyi condemned Muhoozi’s remarks, which included a chilling threat to “behead” him, describing them as part of a broader strategy by the regime to intimidate and silence political opposition.

Kyagulanyi stated, “The threat by Museveni’s son (who also heads Uganda’s military) to behead me is not something I take lightly, given that many have been killed by him and his father, and considering their several attempts on my life.” Despite the threats, he maintained his stance against intimidation, declaring, “I refuse to be intimidated by the cowardly regime. The world is watching.”

Muhoozi’s inflammatory comments have sparked outrage among supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and human rights advocates, who view them as an attack on political freedom in Uganda. Kyagulanyi has become a leading figure in the opposition, particularly resonating with the youth as he vocally critiques Museveni’s administration for corruption and human rights abuses.

The escalating tensions highlight the precarious state of political discourse in Uganda, with many warning that such rhetoric could further suppress dissent and escalate political violence.
