Entebbe, Uganda — In scenes reminiscent of a national hero’s return, Ugandan music legend Jose Chameleone touched down at Entebbe International Airport on Saturday morning to a thunderous and chaotic welcome that brought operations to a near standstill.

Hundreds of die-hard fans, many clad in branded T-shirts and carrying banners bearing the star’s name, thronged the Arrivals wing, chanting, singing, and dancing under a relentless downpour. Family members, led by his visibly emotional parents, Gerald and Prossy Mayanja, pushed through the crowd to be among the first to embrace their son.
The atmosphere was electric and, at times, uncontrollable. Airport security battled in vain to restrain the surging mob, as many fought to catch a glimpse of the iconic singer who has shaped Uganda’s music industry for more than two decades.

When Chameleone finally appeared at the VIP Lounge, he defied protocol, refusing to drive away immediately. In an act of humility and love, he walked down into the mass of waiting fans, hugging, waving, and even kneeling in gratitude as the crowd erupted into deafening cheers.
Traditional rituals were quickly performed by family elders, blessing Chameleone’s return and praying for his renewed health and continued legacy. He was later escorted out of the airport in a grand vehicle procession, complete with motorcades and fans trailing his convoy, turning the highway into a moving carnival.
