Kampala, Uganda – In a significant move by the Judicial Service Commission, Ruth Nabaasa, a Chief Magistrate, has been dismissed for abusing her judicial authority. The decision was announced on February 2, 2025, alongside the dismissal of Deputy Registrar Cissy Mudhasi Kawuma.

Nabaasa was found to have entertained a matter outside her jurisdiction and disobeyed orders from a High Court Judge regarding property valuation. This conduct raised serious concerns about her adherence to judicial protocols and regulations.
The JSC’s actions reflect its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that judicial officers operate within their prescribed limits. Both dismissals are part of broader efforts to enhance accountability within Uganda’s judiciary.
