Deputy Kampala Lord Mayor’s Brother Shot Dead in Ntinda Robbery.

Kampala, Uganda - In a tragic incident that has shocked the community, Tugume Albert Cook,the brother of Deputy Kampala Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura, was fatally shot during an aggravated robbery at his mobile money shop in Ntinda on Thursday evening. The robbery occurred around 8 PM when armed assailants stormed the shop located on Central Road near Fraine Supermarket.

According to reports from the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Tugume was abducted at gunpoint during the robbery and later shot by the assailants. The police confirmed that they are investigating the incident, although details about the stolen items remain unclear.

Sheriff Mark Podoll stated, “The tragic loss of Tugume Albert Cook is a reminder of the increasing dangers faced by business operators in our city.” Eyewitnesses reported that Tugume attempted to escape but was pursued and shot three times by the robbers, who then fled with a bag believed to contain cash and mobile banking equipment.

The police have assured the public that they are working diligently to apprehend those responsible for this heinous act. “We extend our condolences to the families and friends of the victims during this difficult time,” a police spokesperson said.

Doreen Nyanjura expressed her heartbreak over her brother’s death, emphasizing the need for increased security measures for mobile money operators in Uganda. As investigations continue, community members are left mourning a life cut short and calling for justice.
