Dr. Hilderman has made it clear that his political journey is deeply rooted in the National Unity Platform (NUP) and that he will not run for the Mawokota North parliamentary seat in 2026 without the party’s endorsement.
During his appearance on Sanyuka TV on Tuesday, Dr. Hilderman explained that he respects the NUP constitution and understands the democratic processes required to earn the ticket.

He firmly stated:
“I can’t come on television and claim that I’m guaranteed the NUP ticket. If I don’t get it, I won’t stand.”
Dr. Hilderman’s political breakthrough came in 2021 when he successfully ousted Amelia Kyambadde, a prominent figure in the ruling party at the time. His allegiance to Bobi Wine and the broader NUP movement remains a key pillar of his political philosophy.
He underlined that his personal ambitions will not override the collective needs of the party, affirming:
“My focus right now is to support Bobi Wine’s presidential ambition and not to secure my position in Parliament.”
Despite the uncertainties surrounding his candidacy, Hilderman pledged to continue working with the party even if he does not clinch the nomination.
