Popular Ugandan musician Fik Gaza, real name Shafiq Dangote, has been arrested alongside three other suspects in connection with a series of robbery incidents in Katwe Division. The operation, led by the Kampala Metropolitan Police, followed an increase in theft-related crimes in the area.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, a well-planned operation was conducted at Fik Gaza’s residence, where security forces apprehended him along with Magoola Najibu, Mutuba David (also known as Mavin Gaza), and Zziwa Charles (also known as Mzungu).
Authorities recovered several exhibits from the residence, including machetes, military clothing, and suspected narcotics. The police allege that Fik Gaza’s home was being used as a hideout for criminals involved in various offenses within Katwe Division.
One of the arrested individuals, Zziwa Charles, is reported to have previously escaped from police custody while facing murder charges. All four suspects have been detained and are currently facing formal charges as investigations continue.
The arrest has sparked mixed reactions among the public, with fans of Fik Gaza expressing disbelief, while security agencies emphasize the need to curb crime in Kampala’s urban divisions.
