Kampala, Uganda – Asan Kasingye, the former Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP), has recently shared intriguing insights into his early life, revealing that he once pursued a career as a DJ under the stage name DJ Ase Kasey. During an appearance on Romantic Mukiga’s YouTube show, Kasingye opened up about his passion for music and dancing in his youth.
Kasingye reminisced about his love for nightlife, stating, “I used to like dancing, and I was a DJ. I would tell my wife, ‘Let’s go and dance,’ since we didn’t have children at the time and were just the two of us.” However, he soon realized that his wife was not as enthusiastic about the nightlife. “I’d buy her beer, but she wouldn’t drink. I understood that wasn’t her style,” he explained. As a result, he often found himself dancing alone for hours.
Beyond his DJ days, Kasingye also discussed his marriage, which has lasted over three decades despite its unconventional beginnings. He revealed that his marriage was arranged and that he met his wife for the first time on their wedding day. “When we reached her home, I asked for a pen and paper. I wrote down my name, my father’s name, and that I wanted to marry her,” he recalled humorously adding, “I am economically viable.”
Despite the unconventional proposal, Kasingye’s wife initially chose to focus on her education before accepting his proposal. He patiently waited for her readiness, a decision that has resulted in a happy and enduring marriage.
