Former WBS TV Presenter Straka Mwezi Evicted Over 5-Year Rent Arrears.

Former WBS TV presenter Straka Mwezi, real name Pamela Otim, has been evicted from her rental property in Seeta Kiwanga over five years of unpaid rent, marking another low point in her turbulent post-media career.

Straka, once a household name in Uganda’s entertainment industry, gained fame for hosting The Late Night Show on WBS TV in the early 2000s. However, following the closure of WBS TV in 2016, her career took a downward trajectory, leading to financial struggles.

On March 28, 2025, Straka was forcibly evicted from her residence due to accumulated rent arrears spanning five years.

According to reports, the landlord had exhausted all legal avenues to recover the unpaid rent before resorting to eviction. Witnesses stated that her belongings were confiscated and taken to the police station, while Straka left the premises with only her children and a few personal items.

“She had been given multiple warnings, but she failed to settle the arrears,” said a neighbor who preferred anonymity.

Straka’s Career Struggles

After the collapse of WBS TV, Straka struggled to secure employment at any major media house. In an effort to make ends meet, she turned to selling weight-loss products and hosting TikTok live sessions to generate income.

Despite these attempts, financial difficulties persisted, culminating in the failure to meet her rental obligations for half a decade.

Legal Implications and Future Prospects

It remains unclear whether Straka plans to take legal action or negotiate a settlement with her former landlord. However, sources indicate that she is currently seeking alternative accommodation and considering reviving her career through digital platforms.

As of now, neither Straka nor her representatives have issued an official statement regarding the eviction.
