Gen Muhoozi Quits Social Media

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and son of President Yoweri Museveni, has deactivated his X account, marking the end of his decade-long presence on the platform. This decision comes as he seeks to focus on his military duties under divine guidance, as expressed in his farewell message

General Muhoozi has been a prominent figure on X, known for his bold and sometimes controversial posts. His social media presence drew both admiration and criticism, with his tweets frequently sparking heated discussions on political talk shows. Notable controversies include his claims about capturing Nairobi and threatening diplomatic figures, which led to diplomatic tensions and official apologies from Uganda’s government.

In his farewell post, General Muhoozi thanked his followers for their support and hinted at a possible return to social media once he has fulfilled his mission to restore peace and security in the region. He urged continued support for Uganda, Africa, and his father, President Museveni, whom he described as a revolutionary leader
