Gruesome Murder of Tororo Businessman Shocks Community.

Authorities in Tororo District are in the midst of a major investigation following the brutal murder of a 37-year-old businessman, Ronald Olweny, whose body was found beheaded in a cassava plantation. The horrific discovery was made on January 10, 2025, after Olweny went missing under suspicious circumstances.

According to police spokesperson Moses Mugwe, Olweny, a resident of Bendo Village, had hired a motorcycle registered under number UGG 400J on the evening of January 9, 2025. He was traveling to Pasindi Trading Centre to attend to a saloon business he had recently opened for his wife, Adongo. Eyewitness accounts indicate that Olweny was last seen alive when he boarded the motorcycle the same evening.

The following day, Charles Ofwono attempted to contact Olweny via phone but was startled when an unidentified individual answered. The caller claimed that Olweny had been abducted and taken away in an unknown vehicle, raising alarm bells among friends and family.

In a significant turn of events, the motorcycle was found abandoned outside the home of an elderly woman named Mary Nyamwenge. Initially, Nyamwenge noticed the motorcycle parked outside her residence and reported it to local authorities. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the bloodstained motorcycle, leading them to conduct further investigations nearby.

Approximately 300 meters away from the motorcycle location, police found Olweny’s naked, beheaded body hidden in a cassava plantation. Following the gruesome discovery, the remains were transported to the Tororo Municipal Mortuary for a postmortem examination. Police are actively seeking information from the public to identify the assailants, as no suspects have been named yet.
