Emerging media reports confirm that veteran news anchor and reporter Josephine Namakumbi has parted ways with NBS Television, one of Uganda’s leading broadcasters.
Namakumbi, who joined Next Media Services in 2019, quickly became a familiar face on the station, particularly as one of the anchors of the popular Luganda news bulletin “Amasengejje”, which aired on Fridays and weekends.

Sources within the media house allege that Namakumbi’s exit followed a prolonged period during which she was gradually sidelined from key on‑air roles after reportedly falling out with some editors. She has since bid farewell to close colleagues and is reportedly exploring opportunities in her private business ventures.
Insiders further suggest that her departure comes amid broader internal restructuring at NBS TV — a move said to be aimed at realigning the network with evolving digital trends and audience habits, but one that could see several staff members lose their jobs in the coming months. Management is understood to be cautious about announcing multiple layoffs at once to avoid alarm within the workforce.
Namakumbi becomes the latest high‑profile media personality to exit NBS TV, following other notable departures including MC Kats, who was reportedly asked to resign in December 2025.
At the time of writing, neither Namakumbi nor Next Media has issued an official statement regarding her departure, leaving many questions about the circumstances of her exit unanswered.
