Human rights boss charged over Shs100m fraud

According to Edge.UG Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) top official has Thursday appeared before the Anti-corruption Court in Kololo where he was charged with abuse of office, embezzlement and conspiracy to defraud.

UHRC Secretary Patrick Mabiiho Nyakana is accused with five others of presiding over the disappearance of more than Shs100m between November and December last year.

The others are; the director in charge of regional services Wilfred Muganga Asiimwe, Tadeo Wamala (accountant), Rebecca Nassuna (regional human rights officer for Jinja), Willy Agirembabazi (Central region) and Rebecca Agnes Tino in charge of Hoima.

They were arrested by agents attached to the Lt Col. Edith Nakalema-led State House Anticorruption Unit.
