The dismissed members, former Uganda Law Society President Ruth Ssebatindira and Norah Matovu Winyi, were accused of not following established election procedures during their selection. Ssemakadde emphasized the importance of adhering to proper protocols to maintain the integrity of the Uganda Law Society and its representation on the Judicial Service Commission.

In a statement, Ssemakadde called for new elections to appoint representatives by December this year. “It is imperative that we restore confidence in our leadership and ensure that all appointments are made transparently and fairly,” he stated. This decision follows Ssemakadde’s recent expulsion of Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka from the Uganda Law Society, further highlighting his commitment to reforming the organization. The move has sparked discussions about governance and accountability within legal institutions in Uganda.
