Kampala, Uganda – Joe Kigozi, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Next Media, has reportedly been dismissed from his position at the Naguru-based media conglomerate owned by businessman Kin Kariisa. According to a report by Newz Updates, Kigozi had been with the company for nearly 15 years, initially joining as a sports analyst before rising through the ranks to become one of the top executives.

The announcement came via a communication to staff on February 4, 2025, stating that Kigozi would transition into an external “consultant” role, a designation that remains somewhat ambiguous. Sources suggest that he may relocate to the United States to join his wife, although Kigozi also owns personal businesses, including a football academy. As of now, he has not updated his social media profiles to reflect this significant career change.
This development follows Next Media’s recent announcement regarding structural changes aimed at enhancing operational efficiency. The organization is undergoing a Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) initiative, which includes merging certain roles and refilling key leadership positions as part of its strategy for 2025.
