Ugandan singer Jowy Landa has shared a disturbing experience from her early days in the music industry, revealing that she was inappropriately touched by a male producer who had promised to help launch her career.
Speaking about the incident that occurred when she was just 18 years old, Jowy recounted how she was approached by a well-known producer who offered to produce a song for her free of charge. As a young and aspiring artist eager for opportunities, she saw this as a big break.

“I have worked with a lot of producers, but the ones I met when I first got into the industry used to harass me. Because I was new, I was scared.”
Jowy explained that she went to the studio excited about recording her first song, but instead, the producer took advantage of her vulnerability.
“Way back, a popular producer approached me and promised that he would do a song for me for free. I was so excited and went to his studio. I was just 18 and couldn’t believe I was going to work with someone like him.”
She revealed that once inside the studio, the producer began behaving inappropriately, crossing personal boundaries and making her uncomfortable with unwanted physical advances.
Jowy chose not to disclose the producer’s identity but emphasized that such experiences are common challenges young female artists face when trying to establish themselves in the industry.
“Many young women go through this when they are starting out in music. It’s hard to talk about, but it happens more often than people think.”
Her revelation has sparked discussions about sexual harassment in the Ugandan music industry, with many calling for stricter measures to protect female artists from exploitation.
