Kampala, Uganda – The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has officially dismissed Cissy Mudhasi Kawuma, the Deputy Registrar of Masaka, along with Chief Magistrate Ruth Nabaasa, due to misconduct. The announcement was made on February 2, 2025, following an investigation into their actions.

Mudhasi was found guilty of abusing her judicial authority by ordering the attachment of accounts belonging to Makerere University, the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council, and a private individual without adhering to proper legal procedures. Additionally, she defied the Chief Justice’s directives by continuing execution proceedings during the COVID-19 suspension period.
The JSC’s statement emphasized that such actions were detrimental to the integrity of the judiciary. This dismissal underscores the ongoing efforts to maintain accountability within Uganda’s judicial system.
