The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) recently completed a two-day dry run at the airport, simulating the arrival and departure processes for the high-profile guests. Kenneth Otim, UCAA Principal Public Affairs Officer, assured that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth experience for visitors while minimizing disruptions for regular travelers.
The summit will be hosted at Speke Resort Munyonyo and will focus on various key topics, including the draft Kampala Declaration, which outlines a vision for transforming Africa’s agrifood systems from 2026 to 2035. Delegates will also discuss the draft statute of the Africa Food Safety Agency and review reports on selecting African Union Centres of Excellence for research and training in agriculture.
As Uganda prepares to host this important summit, concerns remain about its agricultural commitments. The country has faced challenges in meeting CAADP goals, particularly regarding financing for the agricultural sector. Despite aiming for a 6% annual growth rate in agriculture, Uganda’s allocation to this sector has decreased significantly this financial year.
Frank Tumwebaze, Uganda’s Minister of Agriculture, has called on citizens and political leaders to support the summit, emphasizing its potential to enhance Uganda’s reputation as a conference destination and showcase its commitment to peace and stability in Africa.
