Renowned Ugandan media personality Isaac Daniel Katende, popularly known as Kasuku, has officially confirmed that he declined a job offer from Next Media Services, citing the company’s strict digital policy as a major stumbling block. According to Kasuku, he was approached with a lucrative offer but ultimately walked away from the deal because it would have forced him to shut down his personal YouTube channel — Kasuku Live.

“Next Media doesn’t allow its employees to operate personal YouTube channels, and that would have meant shutting down Kasuku Live, which is not just a side hustle but part of my brand and a reliable income stream,” he stated. With Kasuku Live garnering a loyal viewership for its unfiltered entertainment commentary and exclusive celebrity insights, Kasuku believes his platform holds immense media value and creative freedom that traditional broadcast setups currently limit.
This move underscores a growing trend among Ugandan media professionals prioritizing digital independence over mainstream media roles. For Kasuku, it’s clear: “You don’t destroy the house you built for temporary shelter.”
