Millen’s managerial career includes notable spells at clubs such as Bristol City, where he served as permanent manager from August 2010 to October 2012, and had three temporary stints at Crystal Palace. His most recent role involved coaching at Carlisle United and Swedish club Örgryte IS. With over 500 appearances as a player for clubs like Brentford, Watford, and Bristol City, Millen’s extensive background in football positions him well to lead AFC Croydon Athletic.

The club, which competes in the Isthmian League South East Division, was purchased by Zaha and Stormzy last summer alongside former Crystal Palace head of player care Danny Young. Under their ownership, AFC Croydon Athletic secured promotion through the play-offs in their inaugural season, demonstrating a commitment to revitalizing local football.

Millen expressed enthusiasm about joining the club, stating that his previous experience with Zaha at Crystal Palace played a significant role in his decision. He acknowledged the importance of community and development within football and looks forward to working with players he has previously coached.
