Ugandan filmmaker Linda Dinah has been honored with the Best Female Sound Designer award at the 6th edition of the Women in Film Awards (WIFA) Kenya. This prestigious recognition highlights her outstanding work on two feature films, The Immersive Alarm and Deadbeat, both produced during her time at the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) East Africa Academy as part of the Class of 2024.

The Immersive Alarm, a fantasy film about a boy who travels through time to prove his father’s innocence, demonstrated Linda’s ability to heighten emotional and suspenseful moments through meticulous sound design. On the other hand, Deadbeat, a dark comedy about a father leaving posthumous burial instructions for his son, benefited from her skill in blending humor with depth through sound.
The two films later aired on M-Net’s Maisha Magic Prime, further solidifying Linda’s growing reputation as a talented sound designer. Upon receiving the award, she expressed her pride in the achievement, not only for herself but also for Ugandan women in technical film fields.

"This is such a wonderful surprise! As a Ugandan winning in Kenya, this moment reminds me of what we are always striving for—film without borders. I am grateful to MultiChoice Talent Factory for being a home where I refined my craft, and this award is proof of that growth. This award is not just for me but for every Ugandan woman who aspires to break into technical fields in film," Linda said.
Victoria Goro, Academy Director of MTF East Africa, commended Linda’s success, emphasizing the academy’s commitment to nurturing new talent in African cinema. She also acknowledged the achievements of other MTF alumni, such as Samuel Mafayo and Agola Simon, underscoring the growing impact of the program’s graduates on the industry.
