Lydia Jazmine Encourages Women to Show Love on Valentine’s Day by Giving Back to Men.

Kampala, Uganda – Ugandan singer Lydia Jazmine has called for women to reciprocate the love and gifts they often receive from men on Valentine’s Day. In a social media post shared on Tuesday, Jazmine urged women to make this year’s celebration a two-way affair by also giving their partners gifts and treating them with the same affection that is traditionally shown to women.

Valentine’s Day, which falls annually on February 14, has often been viewed as a day when men go above and beyond in showing love and appreciation to their partners, typically through expensive gifts, romantic dates, and special gestures. However, Lydia Jazmine believes this tradition should be balanced out. “Love is a two-way street. Ladies, let’s normalize giving treats to the man too this Valentine’s,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

This call for reciprocity in love and gifting comes as the country prepares to celebrate the holiday with red and black outfits and an abundance of flowers filling the streets. Jazmine’s post has sparked conversations about equality in relationships, where both parties show affection and appreciation for one another, no matter their gender.

Jazmine’s sentiment is shared by fellow public figures, including Zari Hassan, who recently voiced similar thoughts about women taking the initiative to express their love through gifts this Valentine’s Day.
