In his address, Mpuuga stated, “We have lost time backstabbing each other instead of serving the enemy of our common people. It’s time to unite under one big tent.” He highlighted the necessity for comprehensive electoral reforms and a fresh approach to politics, particularly focusing on engaging the youth in meaningful ways.

Mpuuga pledged that the Democratic Alliance would evolve into a fully-fledged political party in the coming months, with plans to field candidates, including a presidential aspirant, in the next elections. He attributed the stagnation of Uganda’s democratic progress to divisions within the opposition and called for a collective effort to restore faith in the democratic process.

The launch of the Democratic Alliance comes at a crucial time as Uganda approaches its 2026 elections, signaling a potential shift in the political landscape as various factions seek to consolidate their efforts against Museveni’s long-standing administration.
