Mubende, Uganda – As Mubende District prepares to host the NRM Liberation Day celebrations for the first time since 1986, local leaders and residents are urging the government to establish a university in the area. This request is driven by Mubende’s pivotal role in the liberation struggle, where the NRA rebels launched their attack at Kabamba Barracks.
Residents like Godfrey Tushabe and William Museveni Ndori, the MP for Buwekula South Constituency, argue that a university would not only serve as a historical marker but also provide educational opportunities and jobs for the local population. They also highlighted the need for infrastructure improvements, such as tarmacking the Lusalira-Nkonge-Ssembabule Road, to enhance accessibility to the historic site.
