Mudra D Viral Stresses the Importance of Successful Concerts Outside Kampala for Artist Success.

Ugandan dancehall artist Mudra D Viral, born Alfa Sebunya, has shared his thoughts on what it takes to be recognized as a truly successful artist. In a recent interview with Galaxy FM, the ‘Onkosa’ hitmaker explained that an artist’s true strength and influence can only be gauged by their ability to hold successful concerts beyond Kampala City. Mudra’s comments come in the wake of A Pass’ recent concert at Kampala Serena Hotel, which saw the artist perform for a crowd in Uganda’s capital city. However, Mudra pointed out that A Pass did not extend his performances outside of Kampala, which, according to him, is an essential step for any artist looking to solidify their status.

Mudra emphasized that concerts in Kampala rarely flop due to the convenience of rallying party-goers from the city’s vibrant music scene. But to prove their worth and grow their brand, artists must venture beyond the capital to places such as Masaka, Luweero, and Mukono, among others. The ability to draw crowds in these areas, Mudra believes, is the true test of an artist’s market strength and influence.

“If you want to prove that you’re big, you step outside the city to see how vast your market is,” Mudra explained. “Music shouldn’t be only in the city where shows can easily be mobilized. An artist who has held extra shows outside the city is on another level. Because to measure your strength, you have to conquer the entire country.”

Mudra’s comments reveal his belief that success is not just about fame in urban areas but about building a widespread, national following. The artist pointed out that stepping outside the capital demonstrates a commitment to expanding one’s reach and establishing a significant presence across Uganda.
