Kampala, Uganda – The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has paid tribute to the late Hajjat Sarah Namusisi Kakungulu, recognizing her as a significant pillar of faith within the Muslim community. In his remarks, Mufti Mubaje described her as a humble and devout Muslim woman who led a life filled with purpose and grace.

Hajjat Namusisi Kakungulu, the mother of prominent figures Prince Kassim Nakibinge and Prince Khalifan Lukanga Kakungulu, passed away on December 30, 2024. Her legacy is deeply embedded in Islamic values and the rich traditions of Buganda, which she upheld throughout her life.

Mufti Mubaje noted that Hajjat Kakungulu’s supportive role in the royal household allowed her late husband, Prince Al Haj Badru Kakungulu, to serve prominently in public roles, including his position as the UMSC National Chairman from 1980 to 1985. As a senior member of the royal court, she was revered for her nurturing spirit and commitment to community well-being.
Her passing marks a significant loss for both the Kakungulu royal family and the broader Muslim community in Uganda. During a recent UMSC National Management Committee meeting, Mubaje extended condolences on behalf of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) and directed that funeral prayers be held at the National Mosque in Kampala.
