Kampala Central Member of Parliament Muhammad Nsereko has announced a complete break from the National Unity Platform (NUP) following the chaotic burial of Muhammad Ssegirinya. In a strongly worded social media post, Nsereko condemned the events at Kadugala as “inhumane and uncivilized.”
“I want to make it clear: my ties with NUP are over, and there is no room for reconciliation. Yesterday’s actions were inhumane. How could you humiliate the body of Honorable Ssegirinya to that extent? No way, it can’t happen,” he wrote.
Nsereko refuted claims made during the funeral that parliamentary or government officials contributed to Ssegirinya’s death. He attributed the late MP’s deteriorating health to preexisting conditions, noting that Ssegirinya was already ill upon assuming office. “Blaming others while abandoning orphans for political gain is disingenuous,” Nsereko added.
