President Museveni highlighted the historical significance of trade in East Africa, urging leaders to recognize over 1,000 years of connectivity that predate colonial disruptions. He cited archaeological findings such as glass beads and pottery unearthed in Uganda as evidence of ancient trade routes that linked various regions. “This trade area was thriving long before Europeans arrived,” he remarked.

The summit also provided a platform for discussing key issues affecting member states, including economic resilience and security concerns. Museveni stressed that integration is essential for both economic prosperity and strategic security in an increasingly globalized world. He encouraged member states to support local industries and remove barriers to trade to foster a more robust regional economy.
As discussions progressed, it became clear that the EAC is poised for further growth as leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation and addressing challenges collectively.
