National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, announced that former party leader Moses Nkonge Kibalama is steadily recovering from a prolonged illness. Bobi Wine shared that he had hosted Kibalama at his home in Magere, Wakiso District, expressing relief at seeing him regain strength.

In the same update, Bobi Wine criticized the government for allegedly exploiting Kibalama in political disputes against NUP. Kibalama, the original leader of the National Unity, Reconciliation and Development Party (NURP)—before its rebranding to NUP—has long been a contested figure in the party’s leadership tensions. Government officials have remained silent on the remarks. Analysts note Kibalama’s health and political relevance are central in Uganda’s polarized opposition environment
