If we look at the whole adult population of Uganda, an estimate of about 7% experience divorce and separation every 4 years. It has come to my notice that most of the divorced cases are in age bracket of 24-35 years.
This comes as a result of pressure from parents who force theirs sons and daughters to get married as soon as possible after completing their studiess. Many are forced to go in for people whom they dont know much about, thus divorce in a few years to come.
Many fellow young girls have enter marriage just because of wealth and materialistic possessions. Some women think that having some one who is rich will help them get anything they desire which is wrong. Possessions can deminish and since he can nolonger(the man) provide with what inspired them to enter in this marriage, divorce will happen next.
Divorce cases are also common nawadays because of group influence and love lust. Many young girls enter into marriage since their friends have partners. Some men have lust of many girls just because of their good looks, boady shape among others. This makes them determined to have an affair with that lady making empty promises and false commitments which at the end results into signing divorce papers.
There are many Television programs forexample “emikolo n’embaga” on Bukedde TV and many wedding programs on Tv stations and this is a big trouble who many think its high time they also get married.
However, courtship is one of te major tools to tackle the increased divorce cases in the country.
Courtship is a period during which a couple develop a romantic relationship before getting married. couples get to know each other prior to a possible marriage.may be an informal and private matter between two people or may be a public affair, or a formal arrangement of family proposal.
This gives the two couple much time to get to know each other, if it works outs well and good if doesn’t you separate there and then. The duration varies some times, but in most cases i advise those in courtship atleast to take 3-4-years to marriage. This will greatly narrow the risk of increased divorce cases in the country.
Guiding and counselling is also another factor in lessening divorce cases. Churches and bible studis are always carried out, at universities among others.
I lastly advice bot young men and women to have self control. This will not only solve divorce cases but also unwanted pregnancies.
