Pastor Kayanja Proposes Christian Bank to Combat Poverty and Promote Economic Growth.

Kampala, Uganda – In a bold initiative aimed at addressing poverty and fostering economic prosperity among Ugandans, Pastor Robert Kayanja, founder and senior pastor of the Miracle Centre Cathedral, has proposed the establishment of a Christian bank. This announcement was made during Christmas celebrations held at the cathedral, where he emphasized the urgent need for financial systems that support the community.

Inspired by the principles of Islamic banking, Pastor Kayanja’s vision for the proposed bank centers on providing interest-free loans to empower Christians and other communities. “We want to start a bank to fight poverty through saving and development as Christians,” he stated, highlighting the successful model of Islamic banking that allows individuals to borrow without incurring interest.

The pastor pointed out that many people in Uganda face significant financial challenges, which often lead to a cycle of poverty. By creating a banking institution grounded in Christian values, he believes it can provide accessible financial services that encourage savings and responsible borrowing.

Pastor Kayanja also urged families to use the festive season as an opportunity to bond with their children and instill values such as discipline and responsibility. He stressed that community engagement is crucial for economic empowerment and called on Ugandans to participate in government development programs aimed at alleviating poverty.

As discussions around this proposal unfold, many are hopeful that a Christian bank could serve as a transformative tool for economic development within Uganda’s communities.
