Patricia described how her father, Justine Ndagire, worked as a taxi conductor but struggled to provide for the family due to insufficient income. Despite these challenges, her mother found creative ways to support them, often taking Patricia to perform at rallies and concerts to earn extra money. “Since I knew how to dance, my mother would take me to rallies, concerts, and gatherings to perform so we could earn some money,” she shared.

The situation escalated when their rent arrears accumulated, prompting Nantaba to take drastic action. “Time came when our rent arrears had accumulated, and Nantaba decided to throw our belongings out in the middle of the night,” Patricia recalled. This traumatic experience left the family homeless, forcing them to live on the streets for a time. “That memory can never leave my mind,” she added.

Despite these hardships, Patricia’s parents prioritized their children’s education and worked tirelessly to make ends meet. Their resilience in the face of adversity is a testament to their commitment to providing a better future for their children.
