Piny Luo Festival Set to Welcome Presidents Ruto and Museveni.

Kisumu, Kenya – In an exciting development for cultural celebrations in Kenya, the Piny Luo festival will feature two prominent heads of state—Kenyan President William Ruto and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni—during its official opening at the newly built Siaya County Stadium on January 2, 2025. This was confirmed by Siaya Governor James Orengo, who has been overseeing preparations for this significant event.

The festival is scheduled to commence on December 31, with guests expected to arrive from December 30. Governor Orengo highlighted that a friendly football match between local teams Gor Mahia FC and Kitara FC will take place on inauguration day, marking a festive atmosphere for attendees at the new stadium.

Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omolo praised the readiness of the venue, assuring that it meets all criteria for hosting such an important occasion. He encouraged public participation in celebrating cultural diversity during this three-day event, which aims to unite Luos from various regions.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is also anticipated at the festival as he seeks to secure a leadership role within the African Union. The Piny Luo festival promises to showcase rich cultural traditions through food, music, and various sports activities.

As preparations finalize, local leaders are optimistic about hosting one of the most memorable Piny Luo festivals yet, reinforcing community ties and celebrating heritage.
