As the Kawempe North by-election approaches on March 13, 2025, the Uganda Police Force has issued a strict warning to all candidates against announcing unofficial election results. Police spokesperson Kituuma Rosoke stated on Monday that only the Electoral Commission (EC) has the authority to declare official results.

Rosoke cautioned that unauthorized proclamations could incite unnecessary anxiety and disrupt public order. He urged all candidates to adhere to electoral guidelines and collaborate with designated police officers assigned to the nine parishes in Kawempe North for effective communication and swift resolution of any disputes.
“Elections are a very challenging exercise; at times they can explode into something else, which is understandable. What is important for us is to have mechanisms through which we can address these discrepancies whenever they arise,” Rosoke noted.
