President Museveni Bans Police Bonds for Parish Development Model Fund Thieves.

Kumi, Uganda - In a decisive move to combat corruption, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed Regional Police Commanders (RPCs) to deny police bonds to individuals accused of embezzling funds from the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga programs. This announcement was made during a wealth creation assessment tour in the Teso Subregion, where Museveni condemned the misuse of funds intended for uplifting rural communities.

During his address at the Kumi Municipal Grounds, Museveni expressed his frustration over reports of individuals stealing money allocated for development initiatives. “I have received reports from the ISO about individuals stealing PDM money. Some were arrested but given police bonds. No more police bonds for anyone who has stolen PDM or Emyooga money,” he warned, emphasizing that offenders must face strict consequences.

The President further stated that simply refunding stolen money is insufficient; those guilty of theft must also face imprisonment. “This money was not given to you as a gift,” he asserted, highlighting the need for accountability in government programs designed to alleviate poverty.

In addition to addressing corruption, Museveni criticized banks for deducting charges from PDM funds before they reach beneficiaries, directing the Ministry of Finance to ensure that recipients receive their full amounts without deductions. His remarks reflect a broader commitment to ensuring that government initiatives effectively support those in need.
