The tensions between Ragga Dee and Kenzo became apparent in late 2022 when the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC), led by Ragga Dee, introduced jam sessions at the National Theatre. This initiative reportedly clashed with Kenzo’s own Tuesday sessions held in Mutudwe. Critics perceived the National Theatre sessions as a competitive move, leading to a public exchange of differing opinions.

Kenzo also took issue with Ragga Dee’s position on banning vulgar music, questioning whether it was a practical solution for the industry.

Addressing the speculation, Ragga Dee reiterated his focus on collective progress rather than rivalry. “I have no reason to be at odds with any artist in Uganda,” he said. “I’m simply the Chairman of the Uganda National Cultural Forum, which represents all arts organizations. Eddy Kenzo is not my enemy, and I’m open to working with him and all other stakeholders.”

He also highlighted his efforts in copyright protection, expressing a desire to collaborate with Kenzo’s federation to advance artists’ rights and safeguard their intellectual property.

Ragga Dee’s statements reflect a broader vision for the music industry. His focus remains on institutional reforms and fostering unity among artists, signaling his openness to partnership over division.
