Rubanda Woman MP Aspirant Katabazi Commits to Non-Violent Campaigns Ahead of 2026 Elections

Rubanda District, Uganda – Aspiring Woman MP for Rubanda District, Jacqueline Katabazi, has reiterated her commitment to maintaining peaceful and non-violent election campaigns as the 2026 general elections approach. Speaking at a fundraising ceremony for the Priests’ House at Kibuzigye Catholic Sub Parish in Hamuhambo Town Council, Katabazi emphasized the importance of calmness in the political arena, despite provocations from rival political camps.

During her address, she cautioned her supporters against engaging in acts of violence, insisting that such behavior is a tactic for losers. “Let those who want to use violence use it, but do not react. If they abuse you, do not abuse them back,” she stated. Katabazi expressed confidence in her chances of winning the upcoming election, urging her supporters to remain focused on their original plan. “I’m sure that we have and we are going to have more support enough to win the coming election,” she added.

Katabazi, who is married to Deputy Director General of ISO Col. Emmy Katabazi, also called on voters to avoid selling their votes to the highest bidder, warning that such actions lead to incompetent leadership. She believes that those who buy their way into parliament often prioritize personal interests over the needs of the constituents they represent.

The fundraising event raised a total of Shs 11.9 million for the construction of the Priests’ House, which is essential for promoting local church services. The church’s catechist, Augustino Byarugaba, confirmed that construction was expected to be completed by January 2025.
