Rwanda’s Kagame Pledges Strong Defense Against Regional Threats.

Kigali, Rwanda – In a powerful end-of-year address on December 31, 2024, President Paul Kagame underscored the importance of national security for Rwanda as tensions rise in the Great Lakes region. He expressed deep concerns about armed groups operating near Rwandan borders, particularly focusing on the FDLR, which Kigali accuses of targeting its territory.

Kagame declared that “Rwanda’s sovereignty and security will always be fully protected,” reinforcing the government’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens against external threats. His remarks come amid allegations from Congolese authorities claiming Rwandan support for M23 rebels, which Kigali vehemently denies.

The President emphasized that effective solutions require addressing root causes rather than relying on temporary fixes. He highlighted the need for dialogue and cooperation among regional leaders to achieve lasting peace and stability.

As Rwanda navigates these complex security challenges, Kagame’s administration remains focused on proactive measures to ensure national safety and uphold sovereignty in an increasingly volatile environment.
