Ugandan musician Spice Diana has expressed confidence in Eddy Kenzo, the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), stating that he has the ability to push for the long-awaited copyright law for artists.

Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Spice Diana emphasized that despite her departure from the federation, she still believes in their primary mission. “I wish copyright is worked on, and I believe Kenzo, as the president, will achieve it. I wish it happens because it’s beneficial to all of us artists,” she stated.

According to Spice Diana, Kenzo’s current influence and good standing with the government, especially as a presidential advisor, place him in a position to successfully lobby for copyright legislation.

It should be noted that Spice Diana previously quit the federation, citing political interference and concerns that the organization was deviating from its main objective—securing copyright protection for Ugandan musicians. Despite her exit, she remains supportive of the copyright cause, which aims to protect artists’ creative works from unauthorized use.
