On Tuesday afternoon at the Hindu Crematorium in Lugogo, Kampala, billionaire businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia delivered a moving tribute to his late son, Rajiv Ruparelia, whose sudden death in a car crash on May 3, 2025, has left Uganda in mourning. Surrounded by family, dignitaries, and hundreds of mourners, Sudhir described Rajiv, 35, as a vibrant, gifted, and compassionate soul who “lit up every space he entered.”

Sudhir spoke candidly about the pain of losing a son, but also the immense pride he felt in Rajiv’s achievements and character. He recalled Rajiv’s infectious energy, charisma, and generosity, emphasizing his passion for helping underprivileged children and supporting their education from primary school to university. “He was someone who saw potential where others saw limitation,” Sudhir said, noting that many young people had come forward to share how Rajiv’s quiet philanthropy changed their lives.
Rajiv was also remembered for his loyalty, honesty, and love for motorsport, especially rally driving-a passion he eventually stepped back from at his father’s request. Sudhir’s speech was filled with cherished memories, including childhood adventures and family moments, leaving mourners with a powerful message: “He lit up our lives, helped those in need, and left behind a legacy of love, service, and hope.”
