Dr. Joseph Okware, representing Uganda’s Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, acknowledged the critical support received from the Russian government, particularly highlighting a mobile laboratory truck donation that aids in responding to disease outbreaks. “We are grateful for this generous support,” Dr. Okware remarked during a high-level meeting chaired by Russian Health Minister Prof. Mikhail Murashko.

The discussions centered around key areas for collaboration, including strategies for managing infectious diseases and enhancing emergency medical services. Dr. Okware noted that Uganda is eager to learn from Russia’s advanced systems for handling medical emergencies and improving electronic medical records management.
As part of its commitment to improving healthcare outcomes, Uganda aims to build local capacity by training healthcare specialists and reducing the need for citizens to seek expensive specialized care abroad. The ongoing dialogue between Uganda and Russia may pave the way for significant advancements in health services delivery within Uganda.
