UNCC Takes a Stand Against Obscene Music Content, Targets Gravity Omutujju, Lil Pazo, Gloria Bugie, Shakira Shakira & Rita Dancehall.

Kampala, Uganda - The Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) has taken decisive action against the rising trend of vulgar and obscene music content in the country, specifically targeting artists Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazo. During a recent dialogue held at the UNCC, participants discussed public complaints regarding the music of these artists, which has been criticized for promoting obscenity and undermining societal values.

Despite being invited to the dialogue, both Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazo failed to attend and did not offer any official apologies. However, representatives from various institutions, including the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), participated in the discussions, allowing the meeting to proceed as planned.

The dialogue resulted in several resolutions aimed at addressing the issue of vulgar music content:

  1. Blacklist for Performances: Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazo have been blacklisted from performing live until further investigations are completed.
  2. Ban on Explicit Songs: Broadcasters have been directed to cease airing specific songs deemed inappropriate, including “Enkudi,” “Dooze,” “Ok Wepticha,” “Enyama,” and “Omunio.”
  3. Broader Scrutiny: Other artists known for provocative performances, such as Gloria BugieShakira Shakira, and Rita Dancehall, have also been flagged for further examination.

The UNCC’s actions reflect a growing concern over the impact of music on cultural values and societal norms in Uganda. As investigations by the Uganda Police Force (UPF), the Pornography Control Committee (PCC), and UCC commence, artists are warned that they could face prosecution under relevant laws if evidence of illegal content is found.
