Kampala, Uganda – Rising artist Uncle Chumi, best known for her viral hit “Gwokute Gwobba,” has made a bold claim, stating that the song was written by legendary singer Jose Chameleone.
Speaking in a recent media interview, Uncle Chumi confidently declared that Chameleone spent over seven years perfecting the lyrics and composition of the song, despite it being just 1 minute and 57 seconds long.

“Jose Chameleone wrote ‘Gwokute Gwobba.’ He spent more than seven years working on it,” she stated.
However, the claim has sparked mixed reactions among fans, with some questioning whether she was serious or joking.
While some have doubted the credibility of her statement, Uncle Chumi remains unbothered, asserting that she knows the truth better than anyone else.
“I sang the song, and no one knows the truth about it better than I do,” she emphasized.
She also revealed that she frequently spends time with Jose Chameleone in high-end spots, though she did not elaborate on the nature of their relationship or how their collaboration on the song came to be.
Following Uncle Chumi’s remarks, many music enthusiasts have expressed doubt and curiosity, especially considering Chameleone’s track record of writing his own music rather than for other artists.
“Chameleone is a great songwriter, but I highly doubt he spent seven years writing a one-minute song,” one fan commented on social media.
Music analysts have pointed out that if true, this could be one of Chameleone’s most unexpected contributions to Uganda’s music industry.
As of now, Jose Chameleone has not publicly addressed the claim, leaving many fans eager to hear his side of the story.
Whether Uncle Chumi was serious or joking remains unclear, but her claim has undoubtedly sparked conversations in the entertainment industry.
