Uganda’s controversial TikToker-turned-musician, Uncle Chumi, is increasingly becoming a fixture in the country’s music scene with her hit songs, “Gwokute Gwobba” and “Guninya.” As her fame grows, she’s becoming more accessible to fans through live performances, setting her sights on both wedding and birthday gigs.

In a recent interview with a local TV station, Uncle Chumi revealed her rate card for various performances, sharing that her presence at weddings in Kampala would cost 4 million Ugandan shillings, while weddings in rural areas would go for 5 million. For children’s birthday parties in Kampala, she charges 1.5 million.
Despite her rising popularity, Uncle Chumi admitted that she didn’t secure any bookings for Valentine’s Day this year, which took many by surprise, considering her widespread presence on social media. However, she is optimistic about the future and continues to seek new ways to engage with her growing fanbase through live shows.
There has been some debate around whether Uncle Chumi’s music, particularly her hit songs, is suitable for younger audiences, especially given her interest in performing at children’s events. However, her unique blend of catchy tunes and viral appeal continues to attract attention in the industry.
