UNMF Pushes for Extended Concert Performance Hours to Benefit Musicians.

Eddy Kenzo, president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), has revealed that the Federation is lobbying the government to extend concert performance hours from the current midnight cutoff to 2:00 am. Speaking shortly after President Museveni’s Yoweri album launch, Kenzo explained that concert start times often run late due to traffic congestion, meaning artists frequently begin performing late at night, limiting their performance window.

Kenzo emphasized that the extension would allow artists a fair and consistent four-hour performance window, removing scenarios where officials have to intermittently grant extensions, which fosters perceptions of favoritism. The extended hours would help musicians maximize fan engagement and reduce pressure to rush through their performances, enhancing the live entertainment experience across Uganda.
